This is Anne Milton MP (Guildford). On 3 August she wrote a letter saying she thought that milk for pre school children should be withdrawn. This costs the government £50m a year, rising to £59m a year in 2011/12.
At first glance and thought, £50m a year on milk - this is such a waste of money when we are trying to tighten the country's belt. However, the government could go round the metophoric country and pick out all these sorts of things that are deemed a "waste of money" and pull to plug on all of them. But where would we all be then? Where would the moral be in the country? What would our "great" nation look like in the eyes of others? She said that the poorer children from the poorer families would get a voucher to ensure that they did not lose out on this calcium/vitamins even though she also stated that there was no benefit to the health of the children having this milk each day. No benefit Anne - then don't give out the vouchers - a waste of money.....
We could save money on MP's expenses. Oh yes, that little chestnut expenses has reared its very ugly head again... How much money must MP's spend on lunches, dinners? and we are pitting this against a little bottle of milk.
Anne Milton, MP for Guildford. In Guildford 1 in 5 people are obese and nearly 1 in 6 people binge drink because they are so fed up and their overall moral is down. Anne says she is concerned over this.....
Come on Anne, stop trying to get Brownie points with your boss. Even Dave says this is a bad idea and the milk will stay. He says you are doing a good job and he backs you as a Minister.
Anne, a pint of milk a day cuts down the risk of a heart attack or a stroke. You worked in the NHS for 25 years and your husband is a Doctor..... get a grip and stop playing party politics.
